Winter Fishing

Fish in Whistler during the winter months? Absolutely. According to Whistler Fly Fishing "The winter and spring months are considered the best months for fishing and the rivers in our area provide the opportunity to fish for wild steelhead, trout and char in a pristine setting."

"The winter fishery on both the Squamish and Lilloett river systems are considered world class and many fly anglers come here specifically to enjoy this fishery."

Is it too cold to fish in the Whistler area during winter? No. The rivers are at a lower elevation than the resort and experience mild temperatures. Temperatures range between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius. The best days are wet days as fresh fish enter the rivers whenever there is an increase in water flow.
