Nature
Whistler's biggest attraction is its natural outdoor setting. Whistler has all the conveniences of a city right in the Village, but just a few steps away is untamed wilderness.
One of the most sought-after summertime experiences is to see a bear. The best way to is to join a Nature Tour where you will learn about their habitat and the local ecology. Although, sometimes you might see a bear by chance, just sauntering along.
Whistler's First Residents
Whistler was named after the marmot, a rock-dwelling mountain rodent. Marmots make sharp, clear whistles as a warning to other marmots of any danger. Whistler was also home to thousands of animal, bird, and fish species long before humans settled here.
Its prime, lush habitat is still home to bears, cougars, deer, rabbits, birds and fish. Many people come to Whistler just to appreciate and admire the abundant wildlife in the area either through a nature tour or Gondola sightseeing.
