Tourism Whistler developed a Whistler specific accommodation rating system - the Whistler Peaks Rating System - providing consumers with valuable information regarding the various types of accommodation available in the resort.

Luxury

Luxury accommodations are for the sophisticated traveller. The very best that Whistler has to offer, these properties typically offer complete personal service, deluxe surroundings and the highest standards of comfort with the most extensive facilities and services.

Superior

Superior accommodations are geared toward the discriminating traveller offering excellent hospitality and customer service. They offer a wider range of amenities and services.

Comfortable

Comfortable accommodations offer above average facilities and services with some amenities.

Modest

Modest accommodations are suitable for those seeking value over atmosphere. They may offer limited on-site facilities and services.

Not Rated

Properties whose owners chose not to participate in the Whistler Peaks Rating System will receive a "Not Rated" listing.

 

The introduction of a rating system provides Whistler visitors with consistent, reliable information on what to expect from a Whistler accommodation.

The accommodation rating system has been divided into distinct property categories to differentiate between Whistler's diverse accommodation types. Different criteria have been developed to establish ratings within each category. The property categories include: Hotels, Condominiums, Townhomes and Executive Homes.

Each property is rated on a number of criteria including In Room Amenities and Property Amenities.

There is also a rating for overall impression. Whistler specific criteria have been included such as proximity to slopes and proximity to village. Criteria have also been developed that is specific to the various property types such as front desk for condos. All properties are assessed based on the set criteria and rated on a scale of 2-5 using a "Peaks" system.
